Obs.: Without the door, to prevent entrance to those not qualified.
M.E.: Report to your station, and attend your duty.
M.E.: Fellow Senior Eye.
S.E.: Master Eye.
M.E.: Are you sure all present are fellows of this degree?
S.E.: I am sure Master Eye, or I will ascertain and report.
Note: If not sure, the S.E. calls the Senior and Junior Obs. and sends them right and left to collect the pass.
M.E.: I wish them to come to order as such.
S.E. raps ***: Fellows, it is the Master’s orders, we come to order as Right Eye Fellows.
S.E.: In order Master Eye.
M E.: Fellow J.O.
J.O.: Master Eve.
M.E.: What are your duties when Right Eye Fellows are assembled?
J.O.: To see that the Chapter is properly observed.
M.E.: Attend your duty, and inform the Obs. we are about to open this Chapter and instruct him to observe accordingly.
J.O. reports to door, and instructs Obs. Returns and reports: Master Eye the Obs. is instructed.
M.E.: S.E.
S.E.: M.E.
M.E.: Are you a R. E. Fellow?
S.E.: I am.
M.E.: What encouraged you to become a R.E. Fellow?
S.E.: In order that I may be further instructed in the use of my R.E.
M.E.: What makes you a R.E. Fellow?
S.E.: My pledge.
M.E.: Where were you made a R.E. Fellow?
S.E.: In a Chapter of R.E. Fellows.
M.E.: The Junior Eye’s place?
S.E.: To the left of the M.E. in the South.
M.E.: Fellow Junior Eye.
J.E.: Master Eye.
M.E.: Your duty in the South?
J.E.: To observe the will of the Chapter and to assist the S.E. as the left assist the right Eye.
M.E.: The S.E. place?
J.E.: In the North to right of the M.E.
M.E.: Fellow S.E.
S.E.: Master Eye.
M.E.: Your duties in the North?
S.E.: To assist the M.E. in opening of the Chapter, and assist him in any other manner I can.
M.E.: The Master Eye’s place and duty?
S.E.: In the East, to preside over this Chapter.

M.E.: Fellow S.E., you will inform the J.E., and he the Fellows that we are about to close our eyes on the outside world and open them in this Chapter for business, during which time may we see eye to eye.
S.E.: Fellow J.E.
J.E.: Fellow S.E.
S.E.: The M.E. informs rue that we are going to close our eyes to the outside and open them in this Chapter for business, this you will announce to the fellows so they may be properly informed.
J.E.: Fellows, you have heard the orders of the Master Eye, by the S.E. so govern yourselves accordingly.
M.E.: S. and J. Obs. Escort the O.P. to altar.
O.P. gives prayer.

M.E.: I declare this Chapter open. Fellow S.O. display the H.B., Fellow J.O. inform the O.Obs.
S.O.: M.E. the H. B. is displayed.
J.O.: M.E. the Obs. is informed.

M.E.: Fellow S.O. are there any in waiting to receive this degree?
J.O. goes to door and ask if any are waiting for the degree, goes back and reports: There are a … number of youth waiting for this degree.
M.E.: Fellow Asst. Obs.

M.E.: You will retire and prepare the candidates.
Ass. Obs. prepares the candidates and raps ** on door.
S.O. at door: Who knocks as a fellow of this degree?
A.Ob.: A fellow of this degree with a … number of candidates who have received the L.E. Degree and now wishes to be further enlightened by receiving the R.E. Degree.
S.O.: Candidates is this your request?
Candidates, prompted, say: It is.
S.O.: Fellow assistant Obs. are they properly prepared?
A.Ob.: They are.
S.O.: By what further means do they expect to gain entrance?
A.Ob.: By the benefit of a pass.
S.O.: Have they a pass?
A.Ob.: No I have the pass. Asst. Obs. gives pass
S.O.: Let them wait until the M. F. has been informed and his answer returned.
S.O. returns to M. E. where same questions and answers are asked and answered.
M.E.: Let the Asst. Obs. by the aid of his G. line, lead the candidates to the room.
S.O. at door: Bring them in.
Assistant Obs. brings Candidates in.
S.O.: To candidates, Fellows in entering a Chapter of this Degree, you are received by a stroke over your right eye to remind you never to reveal the secret of this degree to anyone unlawfully.
S.O. conducts candidates to J.E. and S.E. where the following questions are asked.
J.E.: Who knocks as a fellow of this degree?
S.O.: A fellow of this degree with a … number of youth who have received the L.E. Degree, and now wishes to be made R.E. Fellows.
J.E.: Candidate is this your request?
Cand.: It is.
J.E.: Fellow S.O. are they properly prepared?
S.O.: They are.
J.E.: Have they made suitable proficiency in their former degrees?
S.O.: They have.
J.E.: By what further means do they expect to gain entrance?
S.O.: By the benefit of a Pass.
J.E.: Have they a pass?
S.O.: No I have the pass gives pass.
J.E.: Pass on to S.E.
S.E. asks same questions, and directs S.O. to pass on to M.E. where same questions are asked.
M.E.: S.O. you will conduct the candidates to altar, cause them to kneel and receive the
Obligation.
Candidates at Altar where they receive their Obligation.
 
 
Second Degree Obligation
 
I, … repeat name. in the presence and under the observation of the Almighty Cod and the all seeing eye, do declare and swear here and now, on this Holy Book the rule and guide of my fathers, that I will keep my eyes on those things that will lead to a better life, that 1. may see the right from the wrong, that I may see the path leading to the right, that I may see not to reveal any of the secrets of the mysteries of this, my order, to any one not qualified to know them. In wilful violation may my right eyeball be pierced for my violation, so help me thou all seeing Observer.
M.E.: Senior Observer.
S.O.: Master Eye.
M.E.: Remove the guide line.
M.E.: Candidates, as thou are now, what would you most desire?
Candidates being prompted say: The use of my right eye.
M E.: As you regain the use of your right eye, it, is my orders that you be further instructed in its proper use.
At this point the blindfolds are removed.
M.E.: As you are again returned to light you observe me as Master Eye, standing on the D.G. of a Right Eye Fellow. This D.G. and sign you are always to give when entering a Chapter of Right Eye Fellows, or on arising to address the Master Eye, or on retiring from a chapter of Right Eye Fellows.
M.E.: Fellow S.O. you will conduct the candidates to the J.E. and then to the S.E. that they too may be satisfied that they are R.E. Fellows.
J.E.: Who have you here?
S.O.: A … number of Right Eye Fellows.
J.E.: Rave they proof of their identity?
S.O.: Yes, a D.G. and sign.
J.E.: Show me that proof.
Candidates give D.G. sign.
J.E.: The proof is right and you may pass on to the S. E.
S.E. asks same questions and receive like answers given as before.
M.E.: Senior Obs. conduct the candidates to the right of the Altar, you receive the chart and then back before the Altar to receive their charges.
 
 
Second Degree Chart
 
 
The eyes and the act of seeing:
I. When the eye rests upon an object, the light rays from that object, strikes the cornea or window, passes through it to Iris or regulator, and from there to a special center in the brain where it takes form and a special picture is made.
II. Therefore, we of the Order of the Eyes, are careful to make sure that the picture formed of us is always a good one by keeping ourselves clean, mannerly and helpful.
III. By proper use of the Eye, we are taught to keep our bodies healthy through exercises and athletics. Our minds are clean, through clean thinking.
IV. We use our Eye to learn the things, needed to make us intelligent and good citizens, through, writing, history and arithmetic.
V. To see, or observe the wonders of the Sun and Moon, and the beauty of nature in all its glories.
VI. We use our Eye to see the Lakes, the Trees, and Mountains, and all the Wonders of the Universe.
M.E.: Fellow S.O. return the candidates back to the Altar to receive the charge of this degree.
 

Charge of this Degree
 
I commend you for your achievements and progress along the path that leads away from the darkness of ignorance and intolerance.
With the blinder removed from your right eye, you observe the American flag, a glorious symbol of a free people. Let it ever remind you, that you are a valiant soldier in freedom’s crusade, and that while, preserving our own freedom, you must strive to help freedom light up the dark corners of the world.
Obedience is the attribute of the Right Eye Degree, you will be obedient to your parents, your teachers, your order and to all properly constituted authority. You will always obey the Laws of your country and never take up arms against your Flag.
