Grand United Order of Odd Fellows
The
Grand United Order of Odd Fellows was founded in 1843 in the United States.
There were 108,000 members in 1994.
Peter
Ogden, an African-American sailor, obtained the charter for the first lodge of
this order from an English Grand Lodge; it was possibly because of the English
willingness to admit blacks that the white American order decided to split.
The Grand United Order of Odd Fellows continues to this day.
